Holy Night Helpers is a registered 501(c)(3) charity that was formed at the end of 2024 as a result of the growing number of families that were personally being adopted at Christmas time.

In December of 2024, 4 families from local parishes were adopted. After successfully getting every item off these family wish lists (plus additional items we thought of such as food and cleaning supplies), we decided to pursue turning this into a not for-profit so that we can have a bigger impact in our community.

We recognized that there was a community need to help families that may not have income below the poverty level and have experienced some sort of financial hardship, such as large medical bills, the loss of a family member, loss of a job, etc. We also found during this process these were families who were hesitant to ask for help.

The name Holy Night Helpers was chosen not only to pay tribute to Christmas time, but also because the majority of work was done at night! With all of the family members having full time jobs, the volunteer hours of coordinating and purchasing items were primarily done at night.

The IRS recognized Holy Night Helpers as a 501(c)(3) charity as of December 28, 2024.

“For the past three years, I have been involved in coordinating adopt a family projects. As a parent, this has helped me teach my children to give back when we are able whether that is monetarily or volunteering time. As a volunteer, it has been truly fulfilling to know that a difference has been made for these families. Each year as I have seen the completed wish lists completed by families, I am reminded how important this is. Families have written down “we will be grateful for anything”, “our main concern is food and toilet paper”, or “we really need underwear and socks x 5”. There have been a lot of times where I have had to call a family and specifically ask what gifts they wanted because they only put essentials on the form. It puts everything into a different perspective and I am so glad that God has called upon me to pursue this mission, as it serves such an important purpose”
